Google Maps Update for Android


Google MapsThere’s a new Google Maps version coming to your Android with v7. The new version includes a stack of new features and a new design.

The new Google Maps version is rolling out for Android 4.0.3+ (ICS and up) phones and tablets over the next few weeks. The update will come via the Google Play store.

Additional updates to Google maps include:

  • Live traffic updates
  • Incident reports
  • Dynamic re-routing – so you can now avoid accidents and slow traffic without thinking too hard
  • An explore feature, allowing you to find and discover popular local spots closest to you

Back at I/O, Google unveiled the new Google Maps. The web interface is already live for many, giving users a trim, clean experience with a more vivid color palette and enhanced functionality including new methods of discovery and better visual cues.

Google promised that¬†Android’s (long overdue) Maps refresh¬†with the same great features and more would be popping up some time this summer, and it has finally arrived. Earlier this evening, an update began rolling out (in now signature stages) to users of Android 4.0.3 and above.

Android Police have also provided download mirrors for Android 4.1+ and 4.2 only.
